FAQ

Questions Buyers Ask Us

Straight answers from a factory — no sales speak, no vague disclaimers.

Orders & MOQ
What is NewWay's minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
It depends on the category and fabric type:
  • Dresses — 100 pcs per style (stock fabric)
  • Plus-size fashion — 100 pcs per style (stock fabric)
  • Sweaters & knitwear — 300 pcs per style (stock fabric)
  • All categories with custom / dyed fabric — 1,000 pcs
  • Special colors on stock fabric — standard MOQ applies, plus ~$100 color fee
For a detailed explanation of why knitwear MOQ is higher, see our MOQ negotiation guide.
Can you produce using custom or dyed fabric?
Yes. Custom and dyed fabrics are available across all categories, but require a minimum of 1,000 pieces due to fabric mill minimums. Stock fabric orders start at 100–300 pieces depending on the category. If you want a color that isn't in our stock library, we can source it for an additional dyeing fee of approximately $100.
Do you offer private label or OEM manufacturing?
Yes — OEM and private label manufacturing is our core business. NewWay started as a garment sourcing agent: clients provided tech packs, and we handled material sourcing, factory coordination, and quality control on their behalf. As our client base grew and stabilised, we expanded into our own manufacturing facility. Today we operate as a full OEM partner, not just a factory floor.

In practice this means: you send your designs or tech packs, and we manage the entire production chain — material sourcing, production scheduling, in-line QC, and shipment. Your branding (woven labels, care labels, hang tags, polybag print specs) is incorporated at no extra coordination cost. We are set up to be your production partner, not just your supplier.
Sampling
How long does sampling take?
Standard samples are ready in 14 days from deposit and confirmed specifications. Each revision round takes 7–10 days. Most orders require 1–2 revision rounds before sample approval. Build 4–6 weeks into your sampling timeline to be safe.
Is there a sampling fee?
Sampling fees are waived for bulk orders of 500 pieces or more. For smaller orders, sampling is charged per style based on complexity. The fee is quoted alongside your production quote — no surprises.
Do I need a tech pack to start sampling?
Not always.
  • Simpler styles (basic dresses, standard knitwear): we can develop the tech pack and spec chart from your designs or reference images at no extra charge.
  • Complex styles (custom-pattern knitwear, structured dresses with complicated construction): a client-provided tech pack is required to ensure accurate quoting and sampling.
If you're not sure which applies to your style, just send us what you have — we'll tell you.
Production
What is the bulk production lead time?
Bulk production is completed within 30 days of sample approval and receipt of the production deposit. Total timeline from first enquiry to shipment is typically 8–12 weeks, depending on the number of sample revision rounds.
What categories does NewWay produce?
  • Sweaters & knitwear — pullovers, cardigans, knit tops, jacquard, cable-knit, mohair, sequin knitwear
  • Dresses — woven and knit dresses, maxi, midi, printed, embellished
  • Plus-size fashion — sizes 14–26, knitwear and dresses with dedicated plus-size fit blocks
  • Sportswear — activewear and athletic apparel
Quality Control
How do you handle quality control during production?
We run in-line QC at three stages on every order: incoming material inspection, mid-production checks at 10% and 50% completion, and a pre-pack final inspection. Every garment is measured against a sealed production sample approved before bulk begins. Read the full process in our in-line QC guide.
Can buyers visit the factory during production?
Yes. Factory visits are welcome at any stage. We also provide mid-production QC reports on request for buyers who cannot visit in person.
Certifications
What certifications does NewWay hold?
  • BSCI (amfori) — Social compliance audit, conducted by TUV Rheinland. Valid until September 2026. Covers workers' rights, fair remuneration, and no discrimination. Monitoring ID: 25-0344599.
  • GRS 4.0 (Global Recycled Standard) — Issued by Intertek. Valid until January 2027. Covers women's, men's, and children's apparel. Certificate No. ITS-TE-00331610-GRS-03681300. Provides verified chain of custody for recycled content.
Can you produce GRS-certified recycled garments?
Yes. Our GRS 4.0 certification covers the full trading process for recycled-content garments. If your brand has sustainability requirements or retailer mandates for recycled content certification, we can supply the relevant transaction certificates per order.
Do you work with sustainable or natural fabrics?
Yes, and this is an area where our sourcing background gives us a real advantage. We have extensive experience sourcing sustainable and natural fabrics — organic cotton, linen, Tencel, bamboo, natural wools — through China's large and highly developed fabric market.

For brands that require specific or premium fabrics not available domestically, we also coordinate sourcing from Italy and Taiwan. Italian mills are common for high-end wovens and technical jerseys; Taiwanese mills are a strong source for performance knit fabrics and sustainable synthetics. We handle the coordination — you are not required to source materials independently.

If you have a specific fabric requirement, include it in your enquiry and we will advise on the best sourcing route, lead time implications, and MOQ impact.
Payment Terms
What are NewWay's payment terms?
Payment terms scale with your order history:
  • New clients: T/T 50% advance deposit, 50% balance prior to shipment
  • Established clients (after a few successful orders): T/T 30% advance, 70% balance prior to shipment
  • Long-term partners (2+ years): D/P at sight or D/P net 30 — equivalent to the net 7/14/30 open account terms common with European and North American buyers
All payments are made by T/T (wire transfer) unless otherwise arranged.
Shipping
Which countries do you ship to?
Any country. Our current client base includes brands in Europe, the UK, the United States, Canada, the Middle East, Brazil, and Australia. If you're somewhere else, reach out — we ship there too.
What are your shipping terms and carriers?
We ship FOB Ningbo or FOB Shanghai — your choice, both within 90 minutes of our factory. International courier shipments go via DHL. We can arrange freight booking at either port on request.
Getting Started
How do I start working with NewWay?
Two ways: (1) Send us your designs, mood board, or reference images and we'll review them and propose production concepts. (2) If you have tech packs ready, send them directly and we'll provide a full quote within 48 hours. Contact Jay at jay@newwayzj.com or WhatsApp +1 310 962 0896.
What information helps you give a faster quote?
The more you include, the faster we can respond:
  • Style sketches, photos, or tech packs
  • Target fabric or yarn preference (or a reference garment)
  • Estimated quantity and size range
  • Target delivery date or season
  • Target FOB price if you have one
None of these are required to start — but each one speeds up the process.
What size brands do you work with best?
Mid-sized and smaller brands are our primary focus — this is intentional, not incidental. Many factories treat small-to-mid orders as secondary business alongside large retail clients. We have built our operation around serving this segment well.

What that means in practice: every client, regardless of order size, works with a dedicated structure that includes a QC team, a sourcing team, a liaison team, and an internal tech team. You are not assigned to a generalist who handles everything — you work with a coordinated team that handles what they are each best at. This is how we can take a brand from a 100-piece test order to a multi-category seasonal programme without their production process falling apart as they scale.

We have clients who have been with us for 10–20 years, many of whom started with a single small order. That retention is the clearest evidence of how this model works.
